As such, Greater Omaha has grown to be a high tech haven with a diverse mix of technology enabled companies and human capital.
- Total employment for Computer and Engineering Occupations within Greater Omaha’s larger labor shed is approximately 28,000 with the average information technology wage more than nine percent below the national average for similar category employees.
- Greater Omaha is in the heart of a six-state regional area (NE, IA, KS, MN, MO, SD), where 160 colleges and universities offer programs in Computer Science and Engineering.
- The University of Nebraska’s Peter Kiewit Institute (PKI), focusing on Information Science, Technology and Engineering, attracts students among the nation’s top 2 to 3 percent academically, and benefits from partnerships with over 180 businesses and agencies worldwide.
