Ensuring ongoing economic development in our region has been a priority to Greater Omaha’s business community since the city’s first “commercial club” was established more than a century ago. One of the oldest chambers of commerce in the country, we continue to keep pace with the rapidly emerging opportunities of today’s business environment through the Greater Omaha Economic Development (GO!) program.

As the funding program for all economic development activities at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, GO! has been the impetus for an exciting new era of successful economic growth in the Omaha area. Launched in 2004, GO! adopted a more regional view of economic development by partnering with Sarpy County Economic Development Corporation and Washington County’s Gateway Development Corporation. This, along with working in concert with area business and local government partners, has allowed us to expand our pool of resources and talent to provide a one-call solution for both new and existing metro-area businesses.

In addition, we’ve also identified targeted industries best suited for what Greater Omaha has to offer. Our continuing efforts include traveling the world to identify and aggressively recruit businesses in these sectors. From insurance to value-added agriculture to data centers and defense contractors, Greater Omaha has a story to tell and we’re making every effort to communicate our message as clearly and as often as possible.

Awareness results in leads. Leads result in projects. And successful projects result in economic growth. That’s why the GO! campaign is vitally important to the success of our vibrant, growing metropolitan community. With the investments made in our GO! initiative, we will continue to fine tune existing efforts, develop exciting new programs and methodically track our successes.

While we’ve enjoyed much success with marketing Greater Omaha’s image during Phase One of the GO! campaign, we can’t let off the throttle. We will continue to position Greater Omaha as the best place to do business among targeted industries through advertising, marketing communications, public relations, community development efforts and a host of other target-focused strategies.
